Among the four Shahyas in India, Bidar was the capital of the Bahmani and later Baridshahi. The Bidar fort here is a Bhuikotvaja hill fort. Capsule Burj, far-reaching ramparts, Gomukhi Darwaza, colorful palaces exemplifying South Indian style architecture, historical museum, Turkish style architecture, Upada Burj and many more remind you of the past history.
Kalyani, the ancient capital of the Chalukya Dynasty, is today's city of Basavakalyan. The Basavakalyan fort here is owned by the Department of Archaeology and Architecture of Karnataka as well as the Central Government (currently work-in-progress and we can see some part of Fort). Stone gates, towers, ramparts, various idols and sculptures, elephant, horse and some broken idols carved in solid stone, temple, Hyder Mahal, Talimkhana, Makarmukhi cannon called 'Kadak Bijli' with great attraction. By seeing, one gets the impression of an opulent regime.
