Tanjavur

It is believed that Thanjavur derived its name from Mythical Demon Tanjan. As per the earliest sources of information , the Medival Cholas ruled and developed their empire between the 9th and 14th centuries, with Thanjavur as their Capital. Raja Cholan was the prominent ruler amongst the Chola emperors. Thereafter, Pandiyas, Nayaks Of Madurai and the Maratha have ruled this region

Rameshwaram

Rameshwaram, an unspoiled and a quiet town, lies in the state of Tamil Nadu and is part of the enchanting Pamban Island. The town is connected to the rest of the country via the famous Pamban channel.

Points of Attractions: Ramnathswami temple, Ghost town of Dhanushkodi, Stand at the edge of India, House of our 11th president APJ Abdul Kalam.

Madurai

Much like Varanasi in the north, Madurai is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in India. Situated on the banks of Vaigai river in Tamil Nadu, the city is known for its Meenakshi Sundareshwarar Temple.

Points of Attractions: Minakshi Amman Temple, Tirumalai Nayak Palace.

Kanyakumari

Jutting into the Laccadive Sea, the town was known as Cape Comorin during British rule and is popular for watching sunrise and sunset over the ocean.
